Every method below force-installs the same extension in Chrome and Edge so users can't remove it. Allow up to a few hours for policy to reach devices, or restart the browser to apply it immediately.
Before you start
- Extension ID:
dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa - Update URL:
https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx - Policy value (Chrome and Edge):
dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx - Edge installs this Chrome Web Store build directly — no separate Edge listing is required.
1. Chrome Enterprise (Google Admin console)
- Open admin.google.com → Devices → Chrome → Apps & extensions → Users & browsers.
- Choose the organizational unit, click the yellow + and select “Add from Chrome Web Store”.
- Paste the extension ID
dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaaand select it. - Set the installation policy to Force install + pin to browser toolbar, then Save.
2. Microsoft Intune (Windows)
- Devices → Configuration → Create → Windows 10 and later → Settings catalog.
- Search “Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions” under Google Chrome → Extensions, and the matching setting under Microsoft Edge → Extensions.
- Enable each and add the value
dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx. - Assign to your device or user groups.
Intune for macOS: deploy the Jamf-style configuration profile below as a custom profile.
3. Jamf Pro (macOS)
Create a Configuration Profile → Application & Custom Settings → Upload, with preference domain com.google.Chrome (repeat with com.microsoft.Edge):
<dict>
<key>ExtensionInstallForcelist</key>
<array>
<string>dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx</string>
</array>
</dict>Scope it to your target computers or smart group.
4. Group Policy (Active Directory)
- Install the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge ADMX templates on your central store.
- Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Google Chrome → Extensions → “Configure the list of force-installed apps and extensions”. Enable it and add
dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx. - Repeat under Microsoft Edge → Extensions → “Control which extensions are installed silently”.
- Run
gpupdate /forceon a test machine to confirm.
5. RMM scripts (NinjaOne, ConnectWise, Datto, Kaseya, N-able)
Windows (PowerShell, run as SYSTEM):
$entry = "dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx"
foreach ($p in "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\ExtensionInstallForcelist",
"HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\ExtensionInstallForcelist") {
New-Item -Path $p -Force | Out-Null
New-ItemProperty -Path $p -Name "1" -Value $entry -PropertyType String -Force | Out-Null
}If you already force-install other extensions, use the next free number instead of 1.
macOS (bash, run as root):
ENTRY="dcilidgjmhmlloccfhhfelabhnjbplaa;https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx"
defaults write /Library/Managed\ Preferences/com.google.Chrome ExtensionInstallForcelist -array "$ENTRY"
defaults write /Library/Managed\ Preferences/com.microsoft.Edge ExtensionInstallForcelist -array "$ENTRY"A configuration profile (Jamf/Intune) is preferred on macOS; managed preferences written by script can be overwritten by MDM.
